About the True Crime Blogroll

This site is about and for the True Crime Blogroll. Hopefully, our effort will help to introduce readers to new crime blogs, meet the authors, and keep them updated on what the blogroll is up to.

First, let's talk about blogs. What is a blog? There are many descriptions for a blog. Basically it is an ongoing journal on a topic chosen by the author or owner of the blog. Many people blog on many different topics. The author of a blog is commonly called a blogger.

CRIMEBLOG- Definition CRIMEBLOG, noun: A personal website that may provide regularly-updated links to news articles about crime. A CRIMEBLOG may also include additional independent research, commentary, and speculation by the author about the news story. (Definition by Steve Huff)

True Crime bloggers write predominately about some form of true crime. It may be current or historic crime, they may specialize in the crimes they write about, or they may write about general crimes. True crime bloggers choose their own content according to their own interests and work independently on their own blogs under a standardized code of ethics. Who are the bloggers? They are individuals from all walks of life, who have an interest in crime.

What is a blogroll? A blogroll is generally defined as a group of bloggers who write on the same or similar subjects and link to each other. They join together and exchange links. The True Crime Blogroll obviously writes about some form of crime.

What are the advantages to a joining a blogroll? First there is the sense of community. Providing support, sharing information, and a common purpose. Of secondary value, the number of common links to a blog can increase the readership to that blog. Being on a blogroll increases the opportunities readers have of accessing a blog, and it encourages them to check out other blogs on the blogroll.

There is a blogroll on the front of this site, and a similar blogroll on each site belonging to a member of the blogroll. So take some time to check out some of our blogs. Then check back here from time to time, or subscribe to our MySpace blog, and see what's new and what we're up to.
